In addition to our educational programs, workshops and quilt show, we regularly organize quilt-shop outings, tours, quilt displays and other special activities throughout the year. Some occur as opportunities arise, but many have become regular events. Here is a small sample.
|
Shop Hop Around ArizonaShop Hop lets us jump on a bus to shop for quilting fabrics and supplies with other experienced quilters, combining shopping and fun. Our Shop Hops usually include several fabric shops, craft stores and other businesses found on our Supplier Directory. Shop Hoppers are given special discounts and opportunities to win prizes. We also sometimes meet up with other quilt guilds and sewing clubs for shop hop.

Quilt Show & Festival Outings
Chino Valley is conveniently located just over an hour from Phoenix, Arizona, and a few hours from Tucson, Los Angeles, and other cities that regularly host large quilt shows and quilting events. The guild or some of our Friendship Groups usually organize trips to these, as well as events and quilt shows held by our neighbor guilds in Prescott and Prescott Valley.

Mother's Day at the Winery
Each Mother's Day, this Chino Valley Winery throws a special outdoor party on its lovely, historic grounds to celebrate moms and the arrival of summer. The event includes wine tastings, live music, gourmet picnics, and exhibits by local artists. We often use this event to kick off our Opportunity Quilt raffle.

U.S. Flag Quilt Presentation
Susan Joy met Roger Strader and while talking, found they had a mutual love of quilts. In appreciation of Roger's service to his country, Robin Peterson designed a one-of-a-kind flag quilt. The quilt was presented to Roger at our July 8 meeting.

Out & About
AQS Quilt Show Bus Trip
The bus trip to Phoenix for the AQS Quilt Show was enjoyed by all who were able to attend. The quilts displayed were amazing to see and the vendors presented many varied sewing and quilting related products not found at local shops. The stop at 35th St Sewing and Vac was a huge success. Of course shopping is always a favored activity.

Ash Fork Student Visit - 2019
The Senior class at Ash Fork High School was given many quilts, from which they selected their favorites. Each of the seven visiting seniors brought the quilt they chose with them to display for our members.
They told us that this year's senior class is the largest in Ash Fork's history, with twenty nine graduating. Pat Smeaton, who has been a liaison between the school and our Comfort Quilt program, was presented with a bouquet of beautiful flowers in thanks. |
Annual Installation of Officers & Tea
2019 Installation & Tea
Newly elected officials were introduced at this year's April Tea as follows;
2018 Installation & Tea
Sandi White presided over the installation and read the requirements as the new officers were sworn in:

What a truly lovely morning for our Tea. The Stitch'n Sisters arose quite early to finish up their tea tidbits and then it was off to set up for the meeting.

2017 Installation & Tea
This year’s theme was “Shabby Spring Chic”. Hostesses were the marvelous and extraordinary Pam Kidd and Marci Meyer, with a lot of help from Susan Joy Noyes. The girls decorated tables with “Shabby Chic” décor and tea pots. Food was provided by the Guild and by members.
Pam and Marci also hosted a fantastically fun brown-bag auction. Nearly 100 bags were donated by Guild members, who filled their bag with new and old “White Elephant” items. The amazing and hilarious Lulubelle (AK.A. Diane Grayson) was emcee and auctioneer. All proceeds will benefit the Guild. Top bidder was Genny Applebee, who forked out a whopping $15 on just one of her bids (all in the spirit of fun, of course). And what fun we all had. Thank you Pam, Marci, and Susan! |
2016 Installation & Tea
Our Tea and Meeting began when Genny Applebee, the outgoing Chairperson, gave each of her Chair coordinators and committee members a cute little handcrafted pin. She also gave gifts to each of her board members.
A big thank you goes to "The Quiltin' Sisters" friendship group, the decorations were beautiful and fit the theme of 'As The Spool Turns' perfectly. The little tea bag holder with the sayings gifted to each member made it even more special. Each member brought 4 fat Quarters and Left, Right, Center was played to the sound of laughter and happy voices. Sandy Behrle, Diane Grayson, Roberta Akin, Linda Smith, Joan Moss, Martha O'Conner, Sandi White and Norma Harris and Joanne Fitterer were winners. Of course, how can anyone describe the wonderful food provided by our guild members. They out do themselves at each function. |
