Chino Valley Quilters meet in August, 2013

Our Purpose

From our Founding Mothers:

"The purpose of Chino Valley Quilters is to share our experience, strength and hope regarding our journeys into the quilting world; to be helpful to each other at all times; to refrain from claiming there is only one way to do something; to learn from each other and encourage each other to complete a project; to find what makes quilting fun for each of us; to make friends who also enjoy quilting; and to quilt and sew to our hearts' content.
It is important to the Chino Valley Quilts not only to foster the art of quilting and friendship but also to support the community in ways that we can.”

About Us

We are the Chino Valley Quilters; a group of friends, neighbors, acquaintances and sometimes strangers. Quilters are fortunate to have many wonderful quilt guilds or groups in our tri city area of Prescott, Prescott Valley and Chino Valley Arizona.

Our Chino Valley Quilters group meetings are held once a month and that is when our small but eager group becomes one of fellowship and sharing. The meeting usually begins with announcements from our Chairman and the various committee chairman's business of our organization. A break for coffee and snacks mid-way in the meeting provides an opportunity to meet new members and visitors, and visit with other members.

Generally a Program is presented immediately following the break and may be a guest speaker or one of our own talented members. The speaker often will give an historical talk about quilting, quilts, and techniques. Other times we will have a Trunk Show by our own member or an invited presenter from one of the other local guilds.

The Show & Tell portion of the meeting is the last order of business before we adjourn. Show & Tell is an important part of every meeting and gives our members an opportunity to show off their latest project or projects.

Oftentimes there is a workshop scheduled after the meeting. Workshops may be a class on what a speaker has presented or a sew-in for members who wish to participate and learn about Comfort Quilts.  Our member quilters may design quilts, iron or cut fabric, sew a quilt top, layer the quilt and others finish up by quilting and binding the quilts. Those quilts are now ready to be donated to local charities in our area.

The biennial Quilt Show is now a two-day event featuring quilts and quilted projects by our members. Our show is attended by local, regional, national, and even an international visitor or two. The quilts presented at the show may be traditional, historical, or art works and can be pieced, appliquéd, painted, or a combination of all techniques.

In addition, our members create an exceptionally unique and beautiful quilt to be raffled off.  Our Opportunity Quilt offers others an "opportunity" to purchase tickets in the hopes of winning the beautiful quilt.  The proceeds from the ticket purchases go toward our Comfort Quilt program and other areas of our community involvement.
