Congratulations to Genny Applebee, Kathy Victor, and Sandi White!  This was a really fun challenge as we all had to put on our thinking caps to create a fancy pieced border.

There were 10 members that rose to the challenge, offering even more beautiful borders.

Left to right - ???, Brenda Burchill, Dolores Dickerson - 2nd row, Joanne Fitterer, AJ ???, Carole Smith -
                              3rd row, Judy Van Haecke

Thank you to all members for taking part in this challenge!

Fancy Border

In honor of our quilt show this year, the challenge quilt I’ve picked is a really easy pattern, but the results should be outstanding!  So let’s get started.
  1.  Your quilt can be any size you wish.
  2. The quilt top will be made of sashed, 4 patch blocks and they can be any size you wish.
  3. There are no color restrictions, it can be 2 color, 3 or it could even be a great stash buster.
  4. There must be 2 borders; a small solid border around the center of quilt top, and here is the CHALLENGE  part:
The second border (outside border) must be a fancy pieced border.

General Rules:

All quilts will only have the above items. There is no fancy work except for the outside border. There will be absolutely no appliqué or embellishments.  All 4 patch blocks must be set on square and not on point. So, at our regular meeting next February 2017, only quilts pieced, with NO applique’ and NO embellishments, quilted with the binding done will be entered for judging.
Remember: The quilts will be judged on color choices and the fancy outer border. No hanging sleeve is required.

So let's all get started and have some fun. Happy Stitching!

                                                                         Marci

PS  There are some great books out for pieced borders as well as infinite ideas on line.
