9/5/2023

Hello All,
  • Just a reminder that the Guild will meet at 9:30am on September 12 at the First Southern Baptist Church at 1524 N State Route 89 in Chino Valley. Doors open at 8:30 for set-up.
  • We will have 50/50, Show and Tell, birthday drawing, and the Block Lotto information on the new block pattern for Oct/Nov and the Block Lotto drawing for the Churn Dash blocks.
  • Members with birthdays this month are: Judy Babcock, Diane Barrett. Debra Cox, Judy Dallner, Lucille Hurley, Kim Markgraf, Kitty McConnell, Allison Osborne, Mara Rosa, Carole Smith and Vicki Smola. When it is your birthday month, please remember to bring a "quilty" gift of a value of about $10. Also in your birthday month, we ask that you bring a snack and come early for set-up. Please be advised there are set-up jobs that do not require heavy lifting.
  • We have lots going on this meeting. Please read the entire message.
Our September program has three components:

1) Judy Dawson has provided a mystery quilt challenge for the guild to coincide with her quilt retreat at the end October. Attached to this email are the fabric requirements for the quilt. You will need four fabrics. The quilt finishes at 60” x 72”. Participants will be able to select fabric(s) needed from the nicer fabric that has been donated to the guild. Clues to finish the quilt will be emailed daily starting Oct 27th. Judy has donated $100 for prize money for the mystery quilt challenge. Eligibility for the prize money will be explained at the meeting.

2) ‘Learn to quilt your own quilt on your sewing machine’. There will be a demonstration and tutorial on how to quilt on your domestic sewing machine. There will be members available to help get you started. Please bring a practice piece of batting sandwiched between two pieces of fabric. Best size is 12” x 12”. And of course, bring your sewing machine and sewing gloves if you have them.

3) We will also be sewing fabric together to make backing for finished quilt tops that Patsy will bring. Bring your sewing machine to help make backings for quilts. Consider taking a top and backing home to quilt on your machine.

See you on the 12th
